Founder, CEO, Software Engineer
Founded JRummy Apps in October 2010 as a solo, bootstrapped Android software studio focused on the rooted-device and power-user community. Across seven years I designed, engineered, marketed, and supported a catalog of more than 25 utilities — most notably ROM Toolbox, Root Browser, Overclock for Android, BusyBox, FontFix, and BuildProp Editor — that crossed 50M+ downloads and 100K+ daily active users at peak, with ROM Toolbox and Overclock for Android sustaining top-10 paid placements on Google Play. In July 2017 the entire Android utility portfolio was acquired by Maple Media (backed by Shamrock Capital) in an asset acquisition that transferred the catalog to a new owner.
Impact
- Built and ran a profitable Android product company from scratch as a solo founder
- Reached tens of millions of Android users — 100K+ daily actives at peak
- Sustained two top-10 paid placements on Google Play (ROM Toolbox and Overclock for Android)
- Root Browser carried the largest total install base of any app in the catalog
- Built deep technical credibility with the Android root community on XDA, Reddit, and Google+
- Open-sourced reusable Android components, including a freshly-compiled BusyBox build pipeline
- Exited through asset acquisition by Maple Media (backed by Shamrock Capital) in July 2017
Responsibilities
- Founded, incorporated, and operated the company end-to-end as solo founder, CEO, and software engineer
- Designed and shipped 25+ Android utility, security, root, and customization apps to Google Play
- Owned the full product lifecycle for each app — research, UX, native engineering, QA, release, support, and lifecycle marketing
- Built native engine code against Android root, BusyBox, the Linux kernel, and TWRP / ClockworkMod recovery — including a custom BusyBox compile pipeline
- Refactored large legacy apps for modularity, multidex, and 64K-method-limit relief; introduced ProGuard, dependency injection, and DexClassLoader patterns
- Built and maintained custom CI, code-signing, and release pipelines around the Android SDK, Gradle, and the Google Play Console
- Owned monetization across paid apps, in-app purchases, advertising mediation, and paid user acquisition; closed seven-figure profit on a bootstrapped budget
- Ran user support and community engagement directly with the Android root community on XDA, Reddit, and Google+
- Negotiated and closed the 2017 asset acquisition by Maple Media (backed by Shamrock Capital), including diligence, transition, and asset transfer

Projects
ROM Toolbox
Flagship all-in-one suite for rooted Android — bundling a ROM manager, root file browser, terminal and script runner, CPU tuner, app backup, font and boot-animation installers, and a build.prop editor in a single app, distributed as ROM Toolbox Lite (free) and ROM Toolbox Pro (paid).
- ROM browser, downloader, and recovery flasher
- Root file browser with read/write system mount
- Terminal emulator with shell-script library
- CPU governor and frequency tuner with on-boot profile
- APK and data backup with bulk freeze
- Custom font, boot animation, and boot logo installers
- build.prop editor with safe rollback
One of two JRummy apps to sustain top-10 paid placement on Google Play; principal revenue driver for the catalog.
Root Browser
Standalone root-aware file manager that mounted system partitions read/write, edited file permissions and ownership, browsed APKs and SQLite databases, and integrated with Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Box as additional roots.
- Root file system with read/write system mount
- APK extraction and SQLite database browsing
- ZIP/TAR/GZ/RAR/7z archive handling and recovery-flashable ZIP support
- Cloud storage integration (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Box)
- Built-in syntax-highlighting text editor
- Inline image, video, audio, and HTML preview
Largest total install base in the catalog and the most-frequent companion install for the rest of the JRummy apps.
Overclock for Android
Precision CPU tuner exposing the kernel's governor selection, per-core frequency caps, and on-boot init scripts. Began as a Motorola Droid X / Milestone overclock module and was generalized into a universal CPU tuner.
- Live governor switching (ondemand, conservative, performance, interactive, etc.)
- Per-CPU min/max clock-speed caps within the kernel's allowed range
- On-boot tune persistence via init.d script
- Real-time CPU frequency and load graphs
- Per-device profile import/export
The other half of the chart-topping pair alongside ROM Toolbox — sustained top-10 paid placement on Google Play.
BusyBox for Android
BusyBox installer and runtime for Android. Bundled freshly compiled BusyBox binaries for ARM, ARM64, x86, and MIPS, generated TWRP/CWM-flashable ZIPs, and shipped a Material-Design script runner and applet reference for the ~340 bundled applets. Open-sourced on GitHub.
- One-click BusyBox install with correct symlink layout
- TWRP/CWM-flashable ZIP generation
- Per-architecture binary builds (ARM, ARM64, x86, MIPS)
- Script library and editor with syntax highlighting
- Applet reference for ~340 bundled BusyBox applets
- Material-Design UI and theme engine
Second BusyBox installer ever published to Google Play; bundled binaries open-sourced for the community.
FontFix
System-font installer for Android with a 4,300+ font catalog. Shipped two installers — a root path that swapped system font files directly with safe rollback, and a non-root path that used Samsung's FlipFont to support tens of millions of devices that didn't need root.
- 4,300+ font catalog (free for personal use, most for commercial)
- Live font preview from catalog or filesystem
- FlipFont path for non-rooted Samsung and partner devices
- Root path with auto-detection of correct system font file and safe rollback
- Encrypted backups to internal storage, SD card, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive
- Material-Design UI with handcrafted theme presets
Reached 5M+ users; the FlipFont path dramatically broadened the addressable market beyond rooted devices.
BuildProp Editor
Editor for /system/build.prop with a syntax-highlighted code editor, autocomplete for known properties, an AOSP property reference, and automatic backups before every edit. The first build.prop editor on Google Play and the top-ranked one for years.
- Syntax-highlighted code editor with autocomplete
- Built-in dictionary of system properties with AOSP framework usage
- Properties grouped by category for discoverability
- Automatic backup with one-tap restore on every edit
- Share build.prop via NFC, Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive
First-of-kind app and sustained top-ranking build.prop editor on Google Play; 1M+ downloads.
Boot Animations
Boot-animation gallery, previewer, and installer for rooted Android. Bundled a curated catalog of community-made bootanimation.zip files, rendered high-quality in-app previews, and included a converter that turned animated GIFs into properly formatted bootanimation.zip files.
- Curated catalog of community bootanimation.zip files
- Full-screen high-quality preview before install
- GIF-to-bootanimation converter (auto-generates desc.txt)
- Install custom bootanimation.zip from SD card
- Backup and restore the existing boot animation
- Favorites and sharing
ROM Installer
Standalone version of ROM Toolbox's ROM-management module. Pulled a curated catalog of custom ROMs and recovery images per device codename, verified MD5/SHA before install, and orchestrated the flash through TWRP or ClockworkMod recovery without leaving the device.
- Curated ROM catalog (CyanogenMod, AOKP, Paranoid Android, and more) per device
- TWRP and ClockworkMod recovery image install/update
- MD5 / SHA verification before flash
- Triggered Nandroid backup before each install
Ultimate Backup
App backup, restore, and bulk-management tool for rooted Android — the catalog's answer to platform churn during ROM hopping. Handled APKs, app data, system apps, and SD-card data, with cloud sync and scheduled backups.
- APK + per-app data backup with one-tap restore
- Multi-select install / uninstall / freeze / disable across the full app list
- System app management and bloatware freezing
- Scheduled recurring backups
- Cloud sync to Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive
Root Check
One-tap diagnostic that confirmed real root access, identified the superuser implementation, reported the BusyBox version, and ran the Google SafetyNet attestation. Default first-install for anyone flashing a custom ROM or trying a one-click rooting tool.
- Real root access detection (vs. fake-root tools)
- Superuser implementation identification (SuperSU, Magisk, etc.)
- BusyBox version + applet count reporting
- SafetyNet attestation for Pay/banking app trust check
- Shareable plain-text diagnostic report

- Tap-to-fly arcade gameplay with progressive difficulty
- Unlockable Android dessert characters
- Google Play Games leaderboards and achievements
Other catalog apps
